Hunter Farm

Graham and Pam have been farming our 980-acre Tuapeka West property for 26 years. Hunter Farm is situated 20km from Lawrence and 40km from Balclutha in South Otago in the heartland of New Zealand’s scenic South Island.

In the last 15 years we have embraced organic, biological and regenerative farming principles to protect and build our soils for the purpose of producing healthy plants and animals.

We have created biodiversity by planting both native and exotic tress for shelter, soil protection, and for timber. This is both aesthetically pleasing and has brought a rich bird population to our farm inclusive of Wood Pigeons, Tuis and Bell birds.

We welcome you to walk on our property and enjoy our peaceful landscape.

Farm Stay Experience

Hunter Farm boundaries the large Clutha River and whilst most of our farm is rolling hill country, we have 100 acres of flat land down by the river with our own river access suitable for fishing and swimming.

We welcome guests to stay with us to gain some insight to New Zealand farming practises and experience our farm friendly dogs shifting our sheep and cattle.

An informative farm tour (1-2hrs) can be booked at a time suitable to both parties) @ $25/person.

Evening meals by arrangement for $25/head.

A breakfast of muesli and home-grown organic fruits served with yogurt and toast and spreads is available and inclusive in the price.

Bacon and eggs available for an extra charge of $5/person.

Bed & Breakfast

We have two accommodation options available to suit your needs and budget.

Large Superior Private Room

The Large Superior Private Room (within our homestead) can be perfect for two adults offering a large comfortable king bed or for a family, as this room also has a set of bunks available (2 children), also a porta cot can be provided on request.

This room has a lovely rural outlook with its own patio and outdoor furniture.

Within the room there is a smart TV, wifi, heater, a fridge, tea and coffee making facilities, a dining table and chairs, lounge chairs and a heater all for your comfort. This room has its own private toilet and basin. The shower is within a short walking distance.

Other facilities (in another room) are available for guests to use: a kitchen area, hot plate microwave, cutlery and utensils, pots, frying pan and a weber barbeque.

General room rate is $145/couple/night. Seasonal variations apply.

$25/child/night. Under 5 free.

Cosy Cabin

The Cosy Cabin is situated in our garden, has a lovely deck and rural outlook. It has a super comfortable queen bed, a couch, small table a television, wifi, heater and tea and coffee making facilities. The toilet and facilities room is a 10 metre walk from the cabin, along a concrete path. Here guests will find the shower, kitchen facilities with cooking and eating utensils, a hot plate, microwave, washing machine and dryer if required. A weber bbq is also available for guest use.

General rate is $110/night/couple. $90/single adult. Seasonal variations apply.
